About

The 95-member Stockton Concert Band is a community band started by a group of Stockton area music educators and businessmen in 1986. Several of the original 30 people who attended the very first rehearsal continue playing in the Band today.

Every year, dozens of area students graduate from high schools and colleges after playing in their school’s bands. People from every walk of life who had a great time playing in their high school and college bands desire to continue that experience.

The Stockton Concert Band was formed for the express purpose of providing band musicians the opportunity to make music a lifetime avocation as part of a high quality concert ensemble. The philosophy has succeeded magnificently through the years as the Band presently boasts members ranging in age from 15 to 85 years. They represent an amazing variety of professions and job descriptions, including but not limited to music educator, doctor, lawyer, secretary, electrician, yoga instructor, farmer, homemaker.

Nine years ago, the Stockton Concert Band became an evening class supported by San Joaquin Delta College. It has been joined by the Lodi Community Band and Tracy Community Band. The college’s support of these additional community bands continues its long tradition of supporting the arts and, in particular, band music, in the community.
